Harold Malmgren was a presidential advisor to four U.S. presidents (JFK, LBJ, Nixon, and Ford) who played a critical role in de-escalating the Cuban Missile Crisis at age 27, directly confronting and outmaneuvering the aggressive four-star General Curtis LeMay in the situation room. Beyond his well-documented government service, Malmgren made extraordinary claims about firsthand contact with UFO materials, briefings on otherworldly technologies by senior CIA officials, and lifelong involvement with secretive networks connected to the UFO phenomenon—making him one of the highest-ranking officials ever to speak publicly and in detail about these matters.
Early Life and Identification by Intelligence Networks
Born during the Great Depression to Swedish immigrant parents in coastal Massachusetts, young Harold grew up in poverty, fishing and crabbing daily to feed his family.
At age 13 or 14, while helping his father restore a mansion in Cambridge, he was discovered by Carl T. Malmgren later described being tracked from that young age by intelligence networks, including what he called the “Majestic” guardians—a group he referenced casually and without elaboration, suggesting a genuine secret committee involved in continuity of government and global catastrophe planning.
The Cuban Missile Crisis
Malmgren served as liaison between Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, National Security Advisor McGeorge Bundy, and President Kennedy during the October 1962 crisis.
McNamara explicitly instructed Malmgren to enter the war room where Joint Chiefs were meeting, ask questions rather than assert opinions, and slow down the decision-making process to buy time for diplomatic resolution.
In the final hours, General Curtis LeMay—head of Strategic Air Command, architect of the firebombing of Japan, and commander of the 509th atomic bomber squadron from Roswell—was aggressively pushing for immediate nuclear strikes on the Soviet Union and Cuba.
LeMay had unilaterally raised the defense readiness level to DEFCON 2 without presidential authorization.
He complained about the “morale problem” of sending bombers to the point of no return daily, and in the room casually referenced acceptable casualty figures of 10 to 20 million.
Malmgren challenged the logic of mutually assured destruction, asked the generals to define their first target, and argued that striking Moscow would eliminate any possibility of negotiation.
When LeMay insisted on hitting Moscow, Malmgren called it madness, pointing out there would be no one left to talk to.

Operation Bluegill Triple Prime and the UFO Shootdown
In the summer of 1962, Malmgren was tasked with designing the cost framework for an anti-ballistic missile system, working with the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Weapon Systems Evaluation Group.
This work connected him to Operation Dominic, a series of 31 high-altitude nuclear tests in the Marshall Islands, specifically the Bluegill Triple Prime test of October 1962.
The Bluegill test used an enhanced X-ray projection system designed to disable incoming nuclear warheads by impinging high-energy X-rays on their surface, causing hypersonic spallation on the interior.
During the test, an unidentified object—which Malmgren said military personnel casually called a “tagalong”—appeared on tracking screens, following the incoming missile. The X-ray blast appeared to knock the object down.
Malmgren noted that the term “tagalong” was used so casually that it indicated military personnel were already accustomed to seeing such objects around nuclear tests and did not consider them a threat.
Declassified footage from the test (known as “Kettle 1”) shows a bright fiery object tumbling out of the nuclear fireball. The official report from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base could not identify the second thermal source.
When the footage was declassified in 1998, the Defense Special Weapons Agency applied a white triangle over the object. The companion footage (“Kettle 2”) remains classified, and the Department of Energy claimed in 2023 it could no longer locate it.
A FOIA request to the National Nuclear Security Administration for records relating to UFOs and Operation Dominic prompted an unusual response: the agency stated that a subject matter expert review was required, implying responsive records exist.
Malmgren confirmed to his daughter Pippa and to Australian intelligence analyst Jeffrey Krookshank that the Bluegill test was intentionally designed as a directed-energy UFO shootdown, and that the Navy recovered the downed craft from the ocean.
Handling UFO Debris at Los Alamos
After pressing officials at the Atomic Energy Commission for information about the tagalong, Malmgren was sent to Los Alamos to meet with Lawrence Geese, who oversaw nuclear testing operations.
Geese showed Malmgren physical debris recovered from the downed object and told him to hold it and describe what he felt.
Malmgren reported that the material felt strange because it “didn’t feel anything”—it seemed to pass through his hands as if it weren’t fully present in normal space.
He also reported experiencing telepathic communication when holding the material: hearing words in his head, feeling that ideas were being implanted in his subconscious.
He believed Geese was testing him to see if he would have this mental reaction, and that he passed.
Geese told Malmgren this was not the first such incident and that there was a history, but referred him to Navy Intelligence for further details, describing Navy Intelligence as an autonomous entity more secure than any other agency—one that did not even share fully with the CIA.
Shortly after Malmgren’s briefing, JFK, LBJ, and their teams made an unprecedented visit to Los Alamos. Malmgren believed they were primarily interested in the tagalong phenomenon, not the nuclear test results.
Briefing by Richard Bissell on Otherworldly Technologies
A few months after the Bluegill incident, Richard Bissell—deputy director of plans for the CIA and the chief architect of Area 51—invited Malmgren for a series of Friday afternoon briefings.
Bissell was one of the most powerful figures in the intelligence community, having overseen development of the U-2 spy plane and the Bay of Pigs invasion.
Bissell told Malmgren that UFOs represented forces beyond CIA knowledge or control, and that they appeared not only around nuclear tests but around the leading edge of all advanced technology development—what Malmgren described as being “generically attracted to the tip of the spear.”
Bissell confirmed the existence of the 1933 Magenta crash in Italy—the same event recently reported by UFO whistleblower David Grusch—telling Malmgren that a craft had been recovered near Magenta, Lombardy, in June 1933 under Mussolini’s fascist regime.
This was the first time anyone of Bissell’s stature had corroborated the Magenta crash to Malmgren, providing independent confirmation of Grusch’s account.
Bissell explained that the Magenta craft had been transferred to the United States through arrangements made by Allen Dulles, who ran OSS operations from Switzerland deliberately to place himself beyond the reach of U.S. law.
Malmgren told Pippa on his deathbed that Bissell revealed the concept of shooting down UFOs with directed energy came from the sole surviving extraterrestrial being from the 1947 Roswell crash, and that Malmgren later saw video of this creature being interviewed.
Bissell also briefed Malmgren on the multiplicity of power networks operating globally—intelligence agencies, financial interests, and other forces that constrained and influenced national leaders in ways not visible on any organizational chart.
The Knights of Malta and Vatican Connections
Malmgren identified the Knights of Malta as deeply embedded in the UFO secrecy apparatus, tracing connections through James Jesus Angleton (CIA counterintelligence chief) and his father Hugh Angleton, both Knights of Malta.
The Knights of Malta, a sovereign entity with diplomatic immunity and deep Vatican ties, would be ideally positioned to serve as international guardians of UFO secrecy.
Multiple other key figures in UFO history were also Knights of Malta: Colonel Philip Corso (author of The Day After Roswell), General Douglas MacArthur and his intelligence staff, OSS founder William Donovan, CIA directors John McCone and Bill Casey, and President Roosevelt’s Vatican envoy Myron Taylor.
Malmgren met with Archbishop Minkus, head of the Vatican bank, who acknowledged knowing about Malmgren from his boyhood connections to the Sicilian mafia community in Rhode Island—revealing a transnational network linking the Italian government, the Vatican, and organized crime in the United States.
The 1933 Magenta craft was reportedly stored at a secure Italian air base until Pope Pius XII, fearing it would fall into Nazi hands, quietly informed the Allies through back channels. The OSS then retrieved it under a secret project and transferred it to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
JFK, UFOs, and the Assassination
Malmgren believed JFK was fully briefed on UFOs before becoming president, primarily through Forrestal (Secretary of the Navy and later Secretary of Defense), who had deep knowledge of the phenomenon.
JFK expressed a desire to share UFO knowledge with the Soviet Union as a basis for peace—proposing that the two superpowers stop fighting each other and jointly address the non-human intelligence presence.

A controversial letter from JFK to CIA director John McCone (FOIA-released in 2005) requested all data on “unknowns” in sensitive airspace to coordinate with the Russians and prevent inadvertent conflict—language that later appeared in the 1971 SALT treaty.
Malmgren stated unequivocally that he believed UFOs were “probably the number one issue” in JFK’s assassination, because Kennedy wanted to talk openly about the phenomenon and reduce nuclear arsenals—both of which threatened powerful interests.

Brown reportedly slept next to a shortwave radio he used for communicating with “space brothers.”
Malmgren argued that Tesla’s work on electron movement and the transmutation of elements was suppressed because its implications were more dangerous than anti-gravity—potentially enabling the transformation of matter itself.

He grew up in a Rhode Island community dominated by the Sicilian mafia and was later recognized by the Prime Minister of Italy (in 1973) as someone who “understands the Sicilian way”—the tripartite alliance of the Vatican, the Italian state, and the mafia that governed Italy for decades.
He maintained a direct communication channel with Vladimir Putin, having been introduced to him in 1992 by Yevgeny Primakov in what he recognized was a deliberate, arranged meeting.
Putin read and appreciated two essays Malmgren wrote analyzing his psychology and strategic thinking.
