Dispensationalist: World history is divided into stages, each reflecting a different relationship between God and humanity, and we are approaching the final stage.
For the Second Coming to occur, several conditions must be met:
Israel must be reconstituted as a nation (fulfilled in 1948).
All Jews must return to Israel.
The Dome of the Rock (Islam’s third holiest site) must be destroyed and the Third Temple built.
A War of Gog and Magog must occur, where Israel is besieged by a fierce enemy.
This leads to Armageddon, the final battle, at which point Jesus returns to save Israel and initiate the Messianic age.
Christians are then taken to heaven in an event called the Rapture.
